Yoga Dancing Workshop
Have you ever wondered how movement might meaningfully connect us?
How yoga could possibly expand into the realm of dancing and how dancing might slide beyond choreography into group and self-care?
Join Yoga teacher Catherine Annis and Choreographer/Director Ben Wright for this one day yoga dancing workshop which explores the primal connection we experience when we move together, as a group.
Throughout the day, we’ll bring sensation to the foreground to sharpen perception and spur kinetic imagination. From the generosity and expansiveness of unstructured, intuitive free-form movement, we’ll transition into more organised and directional movements, leaning into and away from forms we may recognise as yoga asana to intensify a sense of immediacy.
This yoga dancing workshop is suitable for movement practitioners, dance artists and those who are curious about expanding their experiences from a yoga mat into wider expressive intention.

About Catherine Annis
Catherine Annis is well known for her imaginative and practical approach to yoga.
Originally a professional dancer, she discovered yoga as a teenager, and has been practicing since the mid 1970s. Having studied various styles of yoga including Sivananda, Iyengar, Astanga and various forms of Hatha yoga, she eventually gravitated to the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli.
Catherine’s yoga practice and teaching focuses on strategies for downregulating the nervous system, working with breath and subtle somatic work to soothe the mind and create more physical ease for those working with pain, stress and anxiety. She holds a Masters degree in ballet studies, and is a qualified Thai massage practitioner, and it is this interest in the body which informs and inspires her teaching.
In 2017, she created the Intelligent Yoga Teacher Training Course (iytt), an anatomically focused teacher training course with world-leading guest teachers including Gary Carter.
She teaches retreats, workshops and courses in the UK and internationally.
