Yoga Class Video:
Breath-Led Movement: Exploring the Breath, Spine & Pelvis
A gentle, breath-led yoga practice exploring how the movement of your breath can create subtle movement through your pelvis, spine and whole body.
.
This practice invites you to slow down and notice how breathing affects the way you move. Beginning on the floor, you’ll explore the relationship between the diaphragm, pelvis and spine before gradually bringing this awareness into kneeling, squatting, standing, balance and walking.
Rather than trying to make the movements bigger, you’ll be encouraged to make them smaller and more subtle – allowing the breath to initiate, support and flow through your movement.
The practice draws on a Scaravelli-inspired approach to yoga, with an emphasis on curiosity, ease, awareness and allowing movement to emerge rather than forcing it.
.
Benefits:
- Develop greater awareness of how your breath moves your body.
- Explore the relationship between the diaphragm, pelvis and spine.
- Encourage greater ease and mobility through the pelvis and spine.
- Develop a more subtle awareness of movement and tension.
- Explore how breath can support movement rather than being something added to it.
- Bring greater awareness to balance, standing and walking.
- Finish with a period of quiet rest to allow the body to integrate the practice.
.

.
What to Expect:
You’ll begin lying on your back, noticing your natural breathing pattern and the movement of the diaphragm, abdomen and pelvis.
From there, you’ll explore small breath-led movements of the pelvis and spine, including gentle pelvic rocking, knee movements and spinal movement.
.
The practice gradually progresses through:
- lying movements
- pelvic and spinal exploration
- supported bridge variations
- Child’s pose
- forearm-based movement
- a gentle squat
- Downward Dog
- standing and one-legged balance
- walking
- prone movements, including a gentle Cobra/Sphinx exploration
- a final supported rest
.
Throughout, the emphasis is on small, quiet and curious movement, rather than stretching or achieving a particular shape. You’ll be encouraged to pause whenever you need to and adapt the practice to suit your body.
.
