“Loved this class. Sneaky strength work, and my hips and core feel amazing today. Felt really supported the whole way through.”

Strength for Yoga Video:
Functional Strength for the Whole Body

Strength becomes far more useful when your body can coordinate it with balance, stability and control. This class helps you develop those qualities through thoughtful whole-body movement, giving you a stronger sense of support and confidence while exploring what your body can comfortably and capably do.

.

Build deep, intelligent strength for everyday life with this slow, whole-body strength class.

This is a joint-friendly, low-impact practice that focuses on neuromuscular control and how weight moves through the body. Precise, controlled movements work through feet, legs and hips to create support and organise your whole structure.

We begin standing, tuning into pelvic floor and deep abdominal support so each exercise is anchored and integrated. From there, you’ll move through balance work, resistance band sequences, core integration on the mat, and glute-focused side-lying work, finishing with thoughtful stretching and a short, deeply settling savasana.

Deceptively strong, this class is all about awareness, coordination and precise load. It’s ideal if you want to build strength that directly supports your movement practice and everyday life.

It’s the kind of practice that leaves you feeling worked, steady and structurally organised.

.

Benefits of this Class:

  • Builds deep, functional strength throughout the whole body
  • Improves postural support and structural organisation
  • Strengthens hips, glutes and feet as a foundation for movement
  • Enhances balance, coordination and joint stability
  • Develops core support without unnecessary strain

.

Who It’s For:

  • Those developing strong foundations and building on existing strength and stability
  • People interested in somatic or functional movement
  • Anyone wanting a non-generic strength practice
  • Those who prefer focused, mindful strength rather than high-intensity workouts

.

What You’ll Gain:

  • A stronger, more responsive connection between lower body, core and upper body
  • Greater stability and confidence in standing and weight-bearing work
  • Improved awareness of pelvic floor and deep abdominal support
  • More organised movement patterns under load
  • A sense of steadiness, integration and structural support

.

What to Expect:

  • Slow, controlled, neuromuscular strength work
  • Standing balance and lower-body integration
  • Resistance band sequences for hips and shoulders
  • Core integration work on the mat using the Pilates ball
  • Side-lying glute work to build strong lateral hip support
  • Thoughtful stretching to release hips, thighs and lower back
  • A short, settling savasana to integrate the practice

.

Equipment for this Strength Class:

  • Pilates ball
  • Foam roller
  • Resistance loop bands
  • 1kg hand weights
  • Cushions for side lying

If you don’t yet have this equipment, all the exercises can adapted without it, although you’ll gain the most benefit by including some weight and resistance.

.

This is a reliable cornerstone practice you can return to regularly, which will keep your whole body strong, supported and moving with ease.

Over time, it encourages steady, organised movement, helping you feel stronger, and more stable both on and off the mat.
