If you’re living with Long COVID, ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), you’ll be familiar with symptoms of tiredness, interrupted sleep, insomnia and feeling drained by normal everyday life. In this workshop, we look at how our bodies are affected by these conditions and explore simple breathing techniques to re-balance our nervous systems and restore energy and vitality.
When we’re fit and healthy our Sympathetic Nervous System (the active, go-getting response) is predominant during the day, enabling us to carry out our normal daily activities. At night, our Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS) is stimulated, to help us rest and recover ready for the next day ahead.
Individuals with conditions such as Long COVID don’t move easily between these two states. Typically, their systems remain activated throughout the night, so sleep is disturbed and the healing systems don’t get a chance to kick in, reducing the body’s ability to restore and recuperate.
One of the most important tools available when working with Long COVID and other similar conditions is our breath. Join us for this workshop to begin restoring interrupted breathing to a more efficient resting breathing pattern.
