The In Sabina retreat lies in the midst of the untouched Italian countryside, a world away from the hustle of the city, even though it’s located only an hour from Rome. Two beautifully restored 17th century stone buildings overlook an incredible panorama of olive groves and fruit trees.
There are three terraces with stunning views for relaxing and watching the amazing sunsets. Torri, a medieval village with barely 1000 residents, is about 3km away.
There is an indoor converted yoga room, with large windows overlooking the hills & trees. Within the grounds next to the olive groves there is a gorgeous and spacious open-air yoga platform with stunning & panoramic views of the rolling landscape. The setting is quiet, rustic and an ideal place for spiritual practice.
The property is peaceful and beautiful, offering a haven for relaxation and rejuvenation. The retreat centre’s grounds are lush and abundant with lovely gardens, a pond, a natural spring and swimming pool.
The region has long been famous for its quality food and drink; the olive oil is even considered to be one of the best in the world. In Sabina is featured in the Taschen publication ‘Great Yoga Retreats’!
The perfect location for stunning sunsets and nature walks.
The exquisitely restored 17th century stone buildings have been converted into accommodation and overlook a the olive groves and fruit trees. The rooms are designed in a simple, natural style, with a combination of new and antique furnishings. Four of the bedrooms are en-suite, the other rooms share a bathroom between two rooms.
All accommodation is shared between two or three people with limited availability for single occupancy.
Single yurt accommodation is also available. There are three yurts close to the pool area with an outdoor shower and shared indoor bathroom facility. There is no electricity inside – just simple solar lighting. They do not suit everyone – only those who like ‘comfortable camping’. For those who have never experienced living in a yurt, it can be a most magical experience.
One could quite easily while away a week of deep rest and rejuvenation here. Relax by the swimming pool, have a massage treatment with an excellent therapist, find a quiet secluded spot with a good book or take a walk in the stunning natural surroundings. There are good walks from the house and even better ones just a short drive away.
The area is rich in sites of historic and natural beauty. Walks and excursions can be arranged to hot sulphur springs, medieval sites, local festivals in surrounding villages and trips to Rome and Umbria. Cities and towns within easy reach of In Sabina include Rome (45 minutes), Spoleto and Orvieto (1 hour), Siena and Assisi (2 hours).
Only 10 minutes away, the charming medieval hilltop village of Casperia is a favourite haunt for In Sabina groups, who often enjoy dinner at the charming restaurant Gusto al Borgo. For those who wish to spend time in the area before or after the retreat, the beautiful La Torretta in the historic centre is a stunning family run B&B.
It is a good idea to book your flights as early as you can for the cheapest deals. It is best to take a flight arriving between 12 midday and 4pm.
Rome has two airports: Leonardo da Vinci (Fumicino) and Ciampino. Leonardo da Vinci (Fumicino) is the best option for the shared group transfer. However a transfer can also be arranged from Ciampino.
There are many airlines that fly to Rome direct including Easyjet, Ryanair and BA.
Please note that arrival time at In Sabina on 27 April is between 4.30pm and 9pm. In Sabina cannot receive guests before then. The latest departure time on 4 May is 10am.
We strongly recommend that you join the minibus transfers from Leonardo da Vinci (Fumicino) airport which will be arranged to bring you directly to In Sabina. The price is very reasonable (and quick as it takes only 1 hours and 15 minutes from either airport) and in many cases costs less than taking the train – the exact price depends on the numbers. For example:
For 6 people in a minibus the price is €29 each
For 8 in a minibus €22 each
For 14 in a minibus €18 each
For 16 in a minibus €16 each
The earliest time a minibus can leave the airport is 3.30pm and we suggest that if you are on an earlier flight that you wait there. You will be advised of the exact meeting point nearer the time.
If there is a group arriving at Ciampino airport then a transfer from there can also be arranged for the same price. Departure from In Sabina is by 10am on 4 May.
If you prefer to take a train the closest station to In Sabina is Stimigliano. From Fumicino (Leonardo da Vinci Airport) the train costs €11 one way and takes 1 hour and 50 minutes. A taxi from Stimigliano station costs €25 (for up to 3 people with little luggage). To check train times, see www.ferroviedellostato.it
There is no direct train from Ciampino Airport to Stimigliano Station.
